My opinion of Bath

I was born and bred in Bristol, although the area I live in is classed as Bristol I live closer to Bath, a short car ride or a cycle along the cycle path and I can be in Bath in no time.
I must admit that I love Bath it has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, I often take my family to the Royal Victoria Park, The Royal Victoria Park has a botanical gardens area that is beautiful all year round, there is nothing nicer than to take a stroll around the managed gardens and looking at all the trees and shrubs from all around the globe, hand feeding the squirrels, Blue Tits and Doves or watching the Koi as they swim in their pond.
Leaving the Botanical Garden you have 57 acres of greenery to wander, there is a small lake towards the bottom of the first part of the park where ducks, swans and pigeons enjoy tons of bread thrown in by numerous “children” young and old, if you watch carefully you will notice some of the bread floating on the water suddenly disappear as very large fish take their turn at the food, I am sure that the Loch Ness monster was rehoused here by the government in a secret cover up mission and the protect Nessie group, the fish are dark and huge probably not monster size but it does good to exercise your imagination.
Lower down the park there is a child safe playground and a skateboard/bmx area for the older children, the children’s play area is regularly inspected and has a snack hut that is open most of the time, you can get a coffee and a flapjack and many other drinks and snacks, the play area is monitored by staff members and CCTV during most of the day time and a first aid facility is available when it is open, there are adults and children’s toilets and an ice cream van parks near the park if you fancy one.
If you follow the road towards Bath there is a large area towards the left, this is where the fair and circus is situated when it is in town, most summer weekends you can watch hot air balloons take off from this area, it looks great but you wont catch me in one of them, continue along the road and you will see a small cottage on the left and a Bird Aviary, you can stand and watch the quails being bombarded by the droppings from the birds above.
If you walk towards Bath from that park you can cross a road and meet the rest of the park, this part consists of a road going down the centre lots of green space and a bandstand, on the left hand side there is the famous Royal Crescent, as it would suggest it is a crescent of building consisting of private homes and a Hotel.
Continue along and there is a small cafe on the right hand side and a few tennis courts, this is the end of the park, if you leave the park and cross the Queens Square follow the road along you will come to the top of the Bath shopping area, the first street you enter the main Bath street is Milsom Street, I was sure it was named after me but considering I wasn’t even a twinkle in my great grandfathers eye at the time it may be unlikely, but hey it could have been a distant relative of mine who knows.
I never thought there was so much to talk about Bath, I think I will call it a day now and share my views of Bath in my next post.
